Q2 2024 Film & Television App Performance in the US: A Sensor Tower Report

In the second quarter of 2024, the Film & Television app category demonstrated varying performance across the top players in the US market, as reported by Sensor Tower.

Disney+ saw substantial revenue fluctuations, peaking at $125M in mid-April before descending to around $112M by the end of June. Downloads showed a stable trend, maintaining around 5K weekly, with a slight increase to over 6K in mid-April. Weekly active users remained robust, averaging around 85K throughout the quarter.

The revenue for HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies displayed a consistent pattern in the early weeks, hovering around $45K, but notably dropped to $2K by late May. Downloads saw a sharp decrease from over 4K to just above 500 in the same period. Active users experienced a decline, starting at approximately 51K and ending at around 17K in late June.

Newcomer Max: Stream HBO, TV, & Movies presented an impressive entry with revenues increasing from $542 to over $45K by the end of June. Downloads saw a significant surge from 4.6K to 53K in the first few weeks, eventually stabilizing around 39K. Weekly active users showed a remarkable growth, starting at 3.4K and skyrocketing to nearly 120K.

For SkyShowtime: Filmer och serier, revenues were modest, peaking at around $12K in early June. Downloads varied, with a notable uptick to 3K in June, while active users remained fairly stable, with a slight increase to around 25K by the quarter's end.

Lastly, Amazon Prime Video showed a steady revenue growth from $6K to $12K over the quarter. Downloads had an initial jump to 4.7K in mid-April, then slightly decreased to around 3.8K. Weekly active users saw a gradual increase from 43K to over 55K.
